7 Unique Side Effects Of Gaming

7 Unique Side Effects Of Gaming

At some point during our gaming life; we have all experienced a few games that brought out the inner-gaming-junky that’s locked away, begging to be released. One game, or perhaps more than one, that begs us with a hushed, seductive and erotic voice begging for more playtime, causing us to give in and continue playing till early the next morning. Some of us regret it, being over-strained and being as productive as the revolutionary Water-Patented Toaster™. The other gamers will walk around with a smile, stretching from one ear to the next, having little difficulty coping with the everyday tasks before them. These prolonged gaming sessions sometimes have tantalizing results. Giving said gamer some awesome, yet unrealistic ideas. Some of which I can vouch for due to my own personal experience. Let’s examine these, shall we?

Gaming Calamity #7:
gaming-side-effects-minecraft
Minecraft has been known to cause more than a few people bad grades or just possessing countless hours of the gamer’s life. Building a home with virtual blood and sweat to perfection and surviving the many monster-hordes of the night has proven to be an addiction on its own. This had me noticing allthe block-like shapes around me. The floors, the many signs along road, the various packaging inside the shops and in all honesty, even other squares and blocks had me sitting up straight. Perhaps it’s for the best that I took a break from the game, because I don’t think the shopkeepers and homeowners would appreciate the plans my pickaxe I had for their estate.

Gaming Calamity #6:

We all know the discouraging feeling of not being able to find something. Not even knowing if it’s in the immediate vicinity. Perhaps you forgot it at the counter when you paid for your shopping the previous day? For you shoplifters, this doesn’t include you, you can search the dressing room or the aisle where you stole the goods. After playing a lot of Batman Arkham Asylum or Arkham City, you just wish you could tap the correct button for Detective Mode and the aforementioned item will be displayed in orange while the rest of the world that is not currently being searched for, displays in blue. It’s a billion dollar idea. Someone, please make it happen!

Gaming Calamity #5:
gaming-side-effects-assassins-creed
After speaking with countless people regarding this matter, I have confirmed that I was not the only person experiencing these treacherous symptoms after playing a lot of Assassin’s Creed (it was only two people). This counts for all the Assassin’s Creed titles, not just one. I think I overdid the time I spent with Assassin’s Creed, I really do. What’s causing me to say this? Well, I was walking down the street and in the corner of my eye, I saw a pretty little thing approaching me. Sorry, wrong game. As I made my way through the world I began examining real buildings for the best way to climb them. What would be the best way to climb it and if I needed an upgrade to reach certain places. 100% true, I guarantee it.

Gaming Calamity #4:
gaming-side-effects-max-payne-3
Have you ever found yourself looking at a window thinking; it would be cool to jump through it sideways in slow motion and shoot 3 guys in the head with perfect aim? I can vouch for myself and Marko when saying this, we thought about it more than once. Perhaps not just windows, we don’t always suffer from masochistic tendencies that involves a lot of sharp glass edges, but also jumping around corners if we feel that danger is lurking around it and we feel the need to shoot muggers. We both loved Max Payne 3 and we only need to develop a desperate need for painkillers and shave our heads.

Gaming Calamity #3:
gaming-side-effects-red-dead-redemption
As with all these examples I think it’s safe to say that I may have played a bit too much Red Dead Redemption continuously when I suggest the following. Scenario: Calmly driving on the safe roads of South Africa whilst vacating all thoughts of anger and suicide on your way to work (yes, that’s a paradox). While driving, you notice something inside your peripheral vision; be it a harmless little bird or deer just passing by, you immediately feel the need to push the right stick on your controller and activate your bad-ass John Marston Dead Eye ability. With the appropriate places marked, you initiate by pulling the trigger and watch all the red pixels flying. Or in the case, people in traffic not driving the way they’re supposed to, having their heads emptied of all grey matter and all pedestrians are devoid of their kneecaps.

Gaming Calamity #2:
gaming-side-effects-gears-of-war-crimson-omen
When Gears of War 3 came out, I distinctly remember a lot of my gaming time going into that game. Playing through the campaign more than once, grinding a lot of Horde 2.0, because it’s awesome and I was just having a blast. This of course could not be allowed without the tiniest of consequences. Plain and simple, whenever I got hurt, be it me not looking where I’m walking and having my left hip impaled by the kitchen counter or just misjudging the distance between the nearest wall and my face, I would see the Crimson Omen getting brighter. After a quick cup of tea and a little nap the Crimson Omen would eventually go away.

Gaming Calamity #1:
gaming-side-effects-lollipop-chainsaw
As the zombie apocalypse approaches us; I think we should have a healthy debate concerning this. I don’t see how I’m able to form a sentence containing both “healthy” and “zombies”, but I did. Let’s imagine everything turning into excrement and the whole world turns into Hell. Zombies running around and whatnot. My one wish concerning the upcoming zombie apocalypse would be this: Be it a cut, a shot in the head or my car’s tire causing damage, please let the wound produce little pink hearts, rainbows and lots of bright colors. I want my zombie apocalypse with an extra scoop of Lollipop Chainsaw.

What Do You Need to Know About the Xbox One?

Launch Games1 of 16

The Xbox One is set to release on November 22, 2013 and looks to be a great successor to the extremely popular Xbox 360. There have been a lot of changes to this new gaming console, so read through this gallery to get all the facts!
There will be a wide variety of games available at launch. So far, 23 games are expected to simultaneously release for the Xbox One.
Launch game highlights:
  • Dead Rising 3
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • FIFA 14
  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
  • Forza Motosport 5
  • Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Television2 of 16

Television, movies, and music are another large component of the Xbox One. You can still watch shows on services like Netflix and Hulu Plus, but now you can actually run your cable or satellite through the Xbox for additional features.

Controller3 of 16

The Xbox One controller has some subtle improvements from the Xbox 360 controller. The biggest change is the fact that the triggers have force feedback vibration built right in! The thumbsticks have also been redesigned and there is no more Xbox button.

Game Sharing4 of 16

In contrast to Microsoft's original claim, you can purchase, rent, and play used games in your console when you have the disc. Fully playable digital versions of games are also available online, so that you can skip stores all together.

Gameplay Recording5 of 16

Showcase your greatest video game moments with the equivalent of a video game DVR. The Xbox One captures video that can be saved to the console, edited, and shared on Xbox Live and Twitch. This is huge news for makers of online "Let's Play" videos.

Voice and Motion Control6 of 16

While you use the Xbox One, you can control it with voice and motion controls thanks to the new Kinect. Change programming, pause it, and do so much more all with the power of your own voice. You basically don't need a controller to use the Xbox One except for playing games.

Suspended Gameplay7 of 16

No need to pause, save, and start a level over. The Xbox One can stop at anytime and pick up at the EXACT time you ended at. Pretty great for when Mom calls you down for dinner.

NFL Partnership8 of 16

One huge innovation is going to be the partnership with the NFL. View live games and live stats, and track personal fantasy football teams among other things when you're using the Xbox One.

Xbox 360 Games9 of 16

Don't get rid of the old console yet. The new system has been upgraded to a Blu-Ray player, so the old Xbox 360 discs will not be compatible. Blu-Ray movies will be compatible, and new game discs can hold much more information than the old ones.

Apps10 of 16

Just like every other digital device these days, the Xbox One will be powered by a variety of apps. Go online with internet explorer, shop at the Xbox store and download a number of other apps including games.

New Reputation System11 of 16

Nothing is worse than waiting to join a game and having it become bombarded with cheaters and annoying players. A new reputation system will match you up against more legit players during your favorite games.

Headset12 of 16

The Xbox One will come with a redesigned headset that was designed for higher quality and comfort than the Xbox 360 version. The headset has a more sensitive microphone and better controls.

Processor13 of 16

The 8-core x86 processor in the Xbox One delivers nearly instant speeds, minimum loading times, and enough memory to handle multiple tasks at once. Matched with the upgraded Xbox servers, you shouldn't experience any lag or delays while playing.

Skype14 of 16

The Xbox One Kinect has been enabled to connect on Skype. Now you can video chat with friends, play games at the same time, and use multiple apps at once!

Tablet Connection15 of 16

A revamped Xbox Smartglass App will let you control your Xbox One through almost any mobile device. This was already introduced for the Xbox 360, but more functionality will be added for the new console.

15 Secret Tips and Tricks for GTA V

How to Lose the Cops1 of 16

It's a lot of fun racking up a multi-star wanted level in GTA V, but unless you want to end up arrested or in the hospital, you need to learn how to ditch the cops. The most effective method is to drive into a Mod Shop and change your car's color when the cops aren't right on your tail.
Another fancier tactic to lose the cops in the first place is to hijack a semi truck and press right on the D-pad. This will detach the trailer and block off small streets or alleyways.
Also remember that finishing a mission will always remove your wanted level completely, which is a big change from the previous games.

Get Infinite Money2 of 16

Hidden packages are one of the easiest ways to get money in Grand Theft Auto V, and luckily they respawn every time you switch characters. Simply travel to the location shown in the image above, which is off the west coast of the island. Dive underwater to find the wreckage on the ocean floor. There will be a glowing briefcase on top, which you should pick up and then switch to a different character.
Once you switch, immediately switch back to the character underwater. Your air meter will be full again, and the hidden package will have respawned. Repeat as many times as you want for infinite cash!

Instant Skydiving3 of 16

Skydiving is one of the most fun things you can do in Grand Theft Auto, but it normally takes way too much effort. Activate these two cheats for instant fun:
Spawn Parachute (optional) -
Xbox 360: Left Right LB LT RB RT RT Left Left Right LB
PS3: Left Right L1 L2 R1 R2 R2 Left Left Right L1
Instant Skydiving -
Xbox 360: LB LT RB RT Left Right Left Right LB LT RB RT Left Right Left Right
PS3: L1 L2 R1 R2 Left Right Left Right L1 L2 R1 R2 Left Right Left Right

UFO Locations4 of 16

There are four different UFOs hidden throughout the world of GTA V:
  • Crashed UFO - located underwater along the northern edge of the map, you’ll need a submarine to reach the crash site.
  • Futuristic UFO - located at the horizon limit above Fort Zancudo.
  • 60s Style UFO #1 - located at the horizon limit above a monument near Sandy Shores.
  • 60s Style UFO #2 - located at the peak of Mt. Chilliad at 3:00am after getting 100% game completion.
You can't fly any of the UFOs yet, so there's a big mystery around the purpose of all these UFOs.

Launch Vehicles5 of 16

Ram a gate and keep trying to drive forward while the gate is opening or closing. The glitch is inconsistent, but eventually the gate will cause the car to go flying hundreds of feet into the air.

A more consistent but less impressive method is to cram a vehicle against an unbreakable object in the path of an oncoming train. When the train hits, it will send the vehicle flying 50-100 feet.

Drive the HVY Dump7 of 16

It doesn't get much more fun than crushing everything in sight with a humongous vehicle. It's extremely slow and can't climb steep hills, but it's the largest drivable vehcile in the game. Grab the "HVY Dump" from Davis Quarry on the northeast part of the island.

Find Bigfoot8 of 16

During the “Predator” mission, wait until the game switches you to Michael with a sniper rifle on a helicopter. Immediately look to the bottom right corner and use the thermal scope to find the target with a bigger thermal signature. If you zoom in on the figure and turn off the thermal scope, you'll see bigfoot!

Play the Stock Market9 of 16

The stock market is an extremely easy way to make big money in GTA V. First of all, avoid using the BawSaq market and stick to LCN. Next, invest in a company that has a direct rival, such as Cluckin' Bell and Taco Bomb or AirEmu and FlyUS. Go to the rival company, destroy as much property as you can, and watch as your stock skyrockets in value!

Spawn Vehicles10 of 16

Grabbing random vehicles off the street is overrated, just cheat and spawn in one of these awesome vehicles:
Buzzard (Attack Helicopter) -
Xbox 360: B B LB B B B LB LT RB Y B Y
PS3: Circle Circle L1 Circle Circle Circle L2 R1 Triangle Circle Triangle
Comet (Sports Car) -

Xbox 360: B LB Left RB LT A RB LB B A
PS3: Circle L1 Left R1 L2 X R1 L1 Circle X

Rude Gestures11 of 16

If you feel like being rude toward the random citizens of Los Santos, start driving a vehicle without a weapon equipped. Press L1/LB and your character will give people the finger while driving.
If you're playing as Trevor, you can also press right of the D-pad to insult nearby NPCs, which can result in a fight or even the police being called.

Download the iFruit App12 of 16

You can download a real-life app for the iPhone called "iFruit." Android, Windows Phone, and PlayStation Mobile versions are coming soon.
This app is directly connected to your GTA V game and lets you do two main things:
  • Los Santos Customs - Customize vehicles and create a custom license plate for your in-game cars.
  • Chop the Dog - Take care of your pet and play with him to increase his abilities in game.

Free Weapon Upgrades13 of 16

Once you've saved up a decent amount of money, start up a mission and head to an Ammu-Nation store. Purchase as many weapon upgrades as you can afford, and then kill your character to fail the mission. You'll get back all the money you spent, but now you can to any Ammu-Nation and get the upgrades for free!

Change Vehicle Camera Height14 of 16

You can change the zoom of the vehicle camera using the back/select button, but you probably didn't know that you can adjust the how high the camera is placed. Just open the menu and change it in the display options for a different perspective.
