Don't break yourself over a breakup

Break-ups can get to be unmanageable emotionally for most of the times. Especially if those involved have been anchored into the other person since some time and have centred their lives around the person, disrupting normal life and leaving lingering negativity.
For youngsters, break-ups are more challenging since they don't have enough experience to handle their feelings thereafter. While psychologists do their counselling therapies, sometimes listening to stories of others having been through similar experience can lend solace.

Catharsis
"I allowed myself to let all my feelings flow out. I had a group of friends who helped me out. They advised me to let my emotions emerge, like frustration, panic, sadness, grief etc. Grief is a natural phenomenon, so never fight your feelings because they help you come closer to your goal, i.e. moving on," says Asmita Nehru a medical student.
Empty yourself
"The break-up trauma from a relationship has a lot of psychological aspects attached to it. Usually, break-ups occur due to incompatibility, expectations and a very common notion which is peer pressure and has become a leading cause for the foundation of an immature relationship," says Komala Sharma, PHD in psychology and research, "There are many ways of coping up with break-up trauma through psychological therapies. One of them is the 'Empty chair therapy' in which the therapist would encourage the subject to explain his situation to a non-living object that does not exist, hence helping reduce their repressed feelings."
Busy yourself
There are others who try keeping their minds occupied by not sitting idle and moping over memories of their past, such as Gurveen Sehgal, an engineering student "I keep myself busy by either reading or sketching, doing things that relax me and help me keep my mind off things. I make it a point to keep myself surrounded by people who love and support me at every moment in my life. I never let myself sit idle, it always works best to keep yourself occupied," she says.
Let go
"To deal with a heart break one needs to stop dealing with it, let loose. What really hurts is loosing the love of your friends and family. If it was true love, it would stay, but if its not true it would leave you...these are the ultimate possibilities," concludes Harsh Singh an Engineering student in PEC.

Are husbands threatened by successful wives?

Are husbands threatened by successful wives?
Are husbands threatened by successful wives?

A new study suggests that an increasing number of men today are finding it difficult to deal with busy, successful wives. Here's taking a closer look at the Mars versus Venus situation.

When a recent book suggested that womenshould step out of their leadership positions, all hell broke loose in the West. Now, a survey reveals even more disturbing facts about how men feel about their successful spouses — intimidated and also disappointed with their performance as homemakers and mothers!

Says relationship expert Seema Hingorrany, "When women become more successful than their husbands, many a times it hurts the male ego and this takes a toll on their marriage. The problem solely lies in the fact that men are not accustomed to staying with women who are professionally more superior than them."

So, do husbands of flourishing women cheat because they cannot tolerate the fact that their wives receive more accolades than them? Or does the male ego find it hard to believe that their wives are actually doing better than them?

Insecurity plays a big role

Says Minoti Panda, 36-year-old advertising professional, "My husbandand I often have arguments on how I should stay back at home to look after my five-year-old daughter. I keep telling him that she is grown up enough to complete her homework and be on her own until we get back in the evening, but he does not seem to understand the fact." Men often tend to get threatened when their wives earn more than them, and that's why they prefer they stay at home.

Men prefer women with fixed working hours

Men often look out for women who can spend quality time at home and take care of the kids. Adds Hingorrany, "Men prefer women with 'safe professions' such as that of a teacher or alibrarian, or those with fixed working hours so that the women spend more time at home."

Male ego a big issue

Most psychologists believe that the male ego is responsible for this behaviour in men. Author Lynda La Plante and husband Richard La Plante separated after 18 years of their marriage. Richard was quoted by a website as saying, "Lot of men think that it's great to have a wife who earns a lot of money. But living with a woman who is apparently mor ways to be a supportive husband.

Though there are many men who find successful women intimidating, there are some who are very supportive of the fact that their wives are earning and doing well in their lives. Here are a couple of ways to be a supportive husband and encourage your wife.

One must remember that respect is understanding. You must understand that your wife is an independent woman and has a mind of her own. Respecting the decisions that she takes about her life and career will be good for your relationship as well.

Be open about your feelings to her. In case you feel insecure about something, you must share with her. Being honest with each other ensures that you build a healthy marriage.

Be there for her in endeavours. This will make her trust you and make her feel safe and will also strengthen your marriage.

Participate in decision-making. You don't ideally have to interfere in her decisions but when she asks you for an opinion, give her an honest feedback.

Freaky Sea Creatures-Don't View Before You Fall Asleep

#16 Bull Shark

It swims in all the shallow waters of the world and is considered to be much more dangerous than its more famous relatives the Great White and Tiger Shark respectively. Why? Because this shark can survive in fresh water and has been known to follow rivers up deep within a country's populous zones. It was spotted in South America leaping up rapids like salmon and actually two were pulled from the Potomac River on Tuesday, August 20 that were nearly eight feet long. Two out of the last four years bull sharks have been spotted in this location. This animal is a very real threat and could become very problematic with global warming in full swing.

#15 Scaly Dragonfish

Scaly Dragonfish reside everywhere in the world except the Northern Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. They are unique, because they have photophores protuding from their chin and scattered throughout their bodies. They use this light, or bioluminescence, to hunt and are a worthy foe. They enjoy hiding deep within the ocean during daylight hours, but prowl closer to the surface in the evening.

#14 Fangtooth Fish

A hardy little fish, Fangtooths have the largest teeth of any marine animal proportionate to their size, so luckily they don't get very big. They average about seven inches long at full maturity. It is also known as the Ogrefish. Difficult to imagine why!

#13 Denizens of the Deep

Some of these species are relatively harmless, others extremely dangerous, and others just very odd looking, but one thing these fish all share is they can scare the pants off you just by catching a glimpse of them. Shall we?

#12 Great Barracuda

Native to the shallow waters of the Atlantic, these fish have been documented as ready, willing, and able to take a bite out of their human counterparts at their leisure, but the odds aren't as high as people assume. They tend to pounce upon things that glisten in the light, such as jewelry, which has been considered as the main reason for their transgressions. Don't take them lightly though, as their teeth can certainly rip you apart if its been awhile between meals.

#11 Goonch Fish

This species native to a river that borders India and Pakistan has really attracted some attention. Absolutely mammoth, British biologist Jeremy Wade, concluded a six foot specimen was actually on the smallish side, this fish was accused of attacking and killing people within a four mile span of the river. It was thought they developed a taste for human flesh after sampling it from funeral pyres. How creepy is that?

#10 Piraiba Catfish

One of the largest species of fish in the world and definitely the biggest catfish, these guys roam Amazonian waters. The contents of their stomachs have contained animals as large as monkeys, but here is the irony, they are actually prized as a food source. They are supposed to be delectable and used in various South American dishes.

#9 Angler Fish

These fish populate the ocean depths of the Atlantic and Antartic and fortunately enough don't get any larger than three feet. The females have an appendage on their head that attacks as a rod to attract prey, hence their name, but they certainly need it. The males are essentially parasites and latch onto a female body in passing. The ladies can hold up to six males at a time. Wouldn't you like to be able to do that for your man?

#8 Goblin Shark

Obviously named for their grotesque appearance including those lovely teeth, this species was discovered by Japanese fisherman and named from an old Chinese word meaning monster. Not much is known about the Goblin Shark, as there have only been 45 sightings over the years. That's cool with me. I'd like to keep it that way!

#7 The Blobfish

Certainly not an attractive species, the Blobfish is native to Australian waters and lives just above the ocean floor. It's body has no real muscle or skeletal structure and is more like a mass of gelatin so it can float easily through the ocean depths. If you ever get a peek at one of these fish it will probably be in a controlled environment as they are practically extinct.

#6 Stonefish

Native to the coastal reefs of Australia, people participating in water sports need to pay attention to what they touch as this species is extremely difficult to discern from the surrounding rock. For an extra added bonus it injects a venom into its prey that can kill a human being with 120 minutes. How's that for packing a powerful punch?

#5 Viper Fish

Unable to close their mouths, these gruesome little guys have the capacity to throw toss their teeth behind their head. They also have organs that glow so to speak to attract prey and are unlike any other species that resides in the Gulf of Maine. Thank god for that.

#4 Moray Eel

With the Green Moray Eel considered to be the most dangerous of this group, this species is very unique in that it has a second set of jaws located behind what you see on the edge of the mouth. They are used to grasp, it's prey, then thrust it into the throat right down into the digestive tract. The morays are the only animal in the world capable of eating in this fashion and that's probably a really excellent thing!

#3 Snakehead Fish

Not a very attractive marine species, the snakehead is quite unique from his colleagues, as he use his fins to walk over land and can breathe air for a period of roughly four hours. This summer a gentleman caught a 17 pound 6 ounce northern snakehead in the Potomac River Basin. It was two ounces heavier than one that was landed in Japan in 2004.

#2 Piranha

Way back before he was president, Theodore Roosevelt wrote a book about his various travels and was less than impressed with the piranha. He claimed it was the most ferocious fish he ever saw and his viewpoint has stuck throughout the ensuing centuries. The funny thing is piranha's are actually a shy, schooling fish, but they aren't adverse to taking a bite out of when another when they hungry.

#1 The Goliath Tigerfish

Found in Africa, this species is a very sought after game fish and is known for how viciously it attacks its prey. Not something you want to encounter when you are taking a quick dip.

Is Apple working on a gold-coloured iPhone 5S?

After rumours of the iPhone 5S having a new feature of a fingerprint scanner, the buzz now is that Apple is moving away from its traditional colours of white and black to add some bling to its collection.
KGI securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, who has had a proven track record of correctly predicting Apple’s future devices, has speculated that the company will come up with a gold iPhone 5S. Yes, that’s right… gold. Images of the phone were released on iMore, which also spoke of the gold phone, and a picture of the shell of the phone were also spotted last week at Macboutic, an Apple shop in France.
A mock iPhone 5 as imagined by iMore. Pic credit: iMore

A report in TechCrunch yesterday said that its sources had confirmed the new physical feature. Techcrunch stated:
That’s the latest I’m hearing from multiple sources after several weeks of rumors and possible component leaks suggesting the same thing. At first, I couldn’t believe Apple would break from the tradition of offering the simple choice: black and white (or “slate” and “silver” if you prefer for the iPhone 5) for their flagship device. Gold simply seemed too gaudy, perhaps even tacky. But a few compelling arguments countered my disbelief. And now, upon checking, sure enough, there will be gold.
iMore‘s Rene Ritchie said that gold would be one of the “easiest colours to anodise onto an iPhone, propelling a strong arguement for its likelihood. Ritchie said that many of his sources had confirmed the same, as had his colleague Ally Kazmucha, according to TechCrunch.
TechCrunch‘s MG Seigler, in his article also said there was also a strong case for the gold device based on the argument that gold is one of the most popular after-market color adjustments for current iPhones (including for gold cases).
While iMore‘s earlier mock gold version of the phone showed an ultra bright gold-back, Ritchie said that the colour of the shell may be a lot “more champagne” than gold coloured.
While the import of gold coins and bars may be banned from India, the gold iPhone may just hit the sweet gold spot with Indians.
TechCrunch also speculated that a gold iPhone could do well in the Indian and Chinese markets, where the colour is very popular.

10 Tips To Help You Survive Your First Year Of College

#10 Don't Talk Behind Your Roommates Back

No matter how dirty, rude, loud, or always intoxicated your roommate is, they are the only other person in the room when you're sleeping.

#9 Get Used To Eating Ramen

College is expensive, and ramen is not. It cooks fast. You can even eat it raw! But most importantly, it's cheap.

#8 Acknowledge Caffeine

You're going to need to stay awake for long hours and natural energy just does not cut it. Accept caffeine in your life and make it your best friend.

#7 Make New Friends

You don't want to be that roommate sitting in their room all day talking to friends from home. College is your opportunity to meet amazing people from diverse backgrounds, who just might be more interesting than you!

#6 Don't Plagiarize

DO NOT PLAGIARIZE! You'll get caught. Your professors teach, do research, and grade assignments for a living. You're not that slick. Any grade is better than an F.

#5 Learn To 'Power Nap'

Sleep will become so precious to you. It will become a privilege. Learn to take small naps when you're not doing one of many other activities which require you to be awake.

#4 Wearing Sweats Is Ok

Wearing sweats to class is totally fine. You'll actually probably stand out more if you don't. Try not to dirty good clothes you can wear on the weekend, because you'll most likely only do laundry once or twice a semester.

#3 There Is Free Food Everywhere

We know you love ramen and everything, but if you're ever looking to switch it up, go to club informational meetings. They always have food, mainly pizza, for the price of FREE!

#2 Step Away From The Social Media

Refreshing your Twitter or Facebook feed isn't going to make them more interesting or gain you more interactions. Go outside and meet new people. This might be the last time you have the privilege to 'chill' for a living.

#1 You Will Procrastinate. Accept It.

College is a beautiful place where there are so many distractions, you sometimes forget why you're actually there. But then you snap out of it and remember at 3am, sitting in front of a blank word document, on a computer. Keep notes reminding you of when things need to be done to try and avoid it. Although you most likely won't.
