Breathtaking Long-Exposure Pics Of Waves

#6 Golden Wall

The photographer states: "Bright reflection of a rising sun creates a dazzling golden streak across the face of the wave." The first thing we noticed about this photograph was its brilliant and vibrant streak, and we can only imagine how beautiful the sun must have been that day to have such an amazing effect on the ocean!

#5 Split Crest

You'll notice this wave is quite different to the other waves seen so far, and this because it is a split crest. You can see how the crest indents in the middle and almost appears to be two separate waves. At first glance, you would be forgiven for not thinking this was a wave. It has an otherworldly look about it, doesn't it?

#4 Golden Wave

The photographer provides a bit of a back-story for this photograph, explaining: "During local fires, smoke in the air created unusual light that is reflected off the water of this wave as it breaks near the breakwater in Santa Barbara." We love the orange glow of the water in this image, and the perfect capture of the wave just before it breaks.

#3 Red Dawn

There's something very beautiful about the way the ocean can reflect a vibrant sunset. In this photograph, the photographer provides the caption: "Dawn light illuminates the wave as it breaks upon the shore." Stunning! Don't you just love the long-exposure capture of the top of the crest of the wave? It almost looks like mist!

#2 Thick Crest

Just take a look at the amazing movements of the water! Not only do we love this photograph for its unique long-exposure capture of a rolling wave, but we also find the colors to be vivid and mesmerizing! Although the crest of the wave appears to be full of violent and fast motion, the rest of the ocean looks almost serene!

#1 Follow The Leader

All of the breathtaking long-exposure photographs of waves we are about to show you have been taken by the talented photographer, David Orias. He explains: "I try to find the ordinary in an extraordinary moment." We love how this photograph captures the ocean spray as the wave breaks.
