What Do You Need to Know About the Xbox One?

Launch Games1 of 16

The Xbox One is set to release on November 22, 2013 and looks to be a great successor to the extremely popular Xbox 360. There have been a lot of changes to this new gaming console, so read through this gallery to get all the facts!
There will be a wide variety of games available at launch. So far, 23 games are expected to simultaneously release for the Xbox One.
Launch game highlights:
  • Dead Rising 3
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • FIFA 14
  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
  • Forza Motosport 5
  • Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Television2 of 16

Television, movies, and music are another large component of the Xbox One. You can still watch shows on services like Netflix and Hulu Plus, but now you can actually run your cable or satellite through the Xbox for additional features.

Controller3 of 16

The Xbox One controller has some subtle improvements from the Xbox 360 controller. The biggest change is the fact that the triggers have force feedback vibration built right in! The thumbsticks have also been redesigned and there is no more Xbox button.

Game Sharing4 of 16

In contrast to Microsoft's original claim, you can purchase, rent, and play used games in your console when you have the disc. Fully playable digital versions of games are also available online, so that you can skip stores all together.

Gameplay Recording5 of 16

Showcase your greatest video game moments with the equivalent of a video game DVR. The Xbox One captures video that can be saved to the console, edited, and shared on Xbox Live and Twitch. This is huge news for makers of online "Let's Play" videos.

Voice and Motion Control6 of 16

While you use the Xbox One, you can control it with voice and motion controls thanks to the new Kinect. Change programming, pause it, and do so much more all with the power of your own voice. You basically don't need a controller to use the Xbox One except for playing games.

Suspended Gameplay7 of 16

No need to pause, save, and start a level over. The Xbox One can stop at anytime and pick up at the EXACT time you ended at. Pretty great for when Mom calls you down for dinner.

NFL Partnership8 of 16

One huge innovation is going to be the partnership with the NFL. View live games and live stats, and track personal fantasy football teams among other things when you're using the Xbox One.

Xbox 360 Games9 of 16

Don't get rid of the old console yet. The new system has been upgraded to a Blu-Ray player, so the old Xbox 360 discs will not be compatible. Blu-Ray movies will be compatible, and new game discs can hold much more information than the old ones.

Apps10 of 16

Just like every other digital device these days, the Xbox One will be powered by a variety of apps. Go online with internet explorer, shop at the Xbox store and download a number of other apps including games.

New Reputation System11 of 16

Nothing is worse than waiting to join a game and having it become bombarded with cheaters and annoying players. A new reputation system will match you up against more legit players during your favorite games.

Headset12 of 16

The Xbox One will come with a redesigned headset that was designed for higher quality and comfort than the Xbox 360 version. The headset has a more sensitive microphone and better controls.

Processor13 of 16

The 8-core x86 processor in the Xbox One delivers nearly instant speeds, minimum loading times, and enough memory to handle multiple tasks at once. Matched with the upgraded Xbox servers, you shouldn't experience any lag or delays while playing.

Skype14 of 16

The Xbox One Kinect has been enabled to connect on Skype. Now you can video chat with friends, play games at the same time, and use multiple apps at once!

Tablet Connection15 of 16

A revamped Xbox Smartglass App will let you control your Xbox One through almost any mobile device. This was already introduced for the Xbox 360, but more functionality will be added for the new console.
